Why we exist

Our Mission

To give every child — especially the ones the world wasn't built for — a calm, trustworthy companion that helps them navigate the moments that overwhelm.

What we believe

Neurodivergent kids deserve tools designed for them, not adapted from tools designed for someone else.

Most of the world's technology assumes a neurotypical child. We are starting from the other end — designing first for the kids who melt down in fluorescent grocery stores, who get lost in long instructions, who freeze when a stranger speaks a language they don't know, who can't ask for help when they need it most. Tools designed for those kids work better for every kid.

The simplest tool is usually the kindest one.

A child in distress does not need a menu. They need one button, the right response, and a return to calm. Every COTIS design decision starts with "what is the smallest, gentlest version of this that actually works?"

Parents stay in charge.

An AI product for children that bypasses the parents is not a children's product — it is a product the company is using the child to deliver. We will not build that. Every privacy decision, every safety setting, every piece of data belongs to a parent or guardian.

What we measure ourselves on

  • Whether kids who use COTIS report less distress in moments that used to overwhelm them.
  • Whether parents feel more present, not less, when COTIS is in the picture.
  • Whether teachers, OTs, SLPs, and clinicians recommend COTIS to the families they serve.
  • Whether we keep our promises about privacy, safety, and child wellbeing — every release, every quarter.

What we will not do

  • We will not sell child data, ever, to anyone, for any reason.
  • We will not put a screen on the device.
  • We will not run advertising to children through COTIS.
  • We will not give COTIS a "friend" persona that pretends to love your child back.
  • We will not ship a feature we cannot guarantee is safe for the youngest kid using it.

If we ever do any of those things, this page is your evidence to hold us accountable.
